Changsoon Oh is an artist currently based in Tempe, Arizona. She creates abstract expressionist paintings using predominantly oil and acrylic on canvas. Her work is deeply influenced by the sea and the atmospheric light associated with these landscapes.

Oh’s artistic vision is rooted in her childhood experiences in a small seaside village on the Korean peninsula during the Korean War. For two years, she lived in intimate connection with the sea, witnessing its myriad visages. The memories and emotional resonance of this period have become an enduring wellspring for her practice. Despite living in a distinctly different clime today, Oh’s ethos remains unchanged. Her paintings serve as a testament to her ongoing exploration of the interplay between color, space, and form, as she continues to capture the essence of coastal landscapes and the ephemeral qualities of light that define them.

Oh obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Seoul National University and her Master of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute, College of Art. Throughout her career, Oh has exhibited her work internationally in locations such as Seoul, Singapore, New York, Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Scottsdale, Arizona.
